NOTD: Blue Ombre Nails

When ombre nails became a trend (last spring?), like most trends (shatter, matte, those weird outlined ones, even the simple, yet very popular, "accent" fingers), I didn't really go for it. I like my crazy brights and I enjoy doing special manicures for holidays, but on a day-to-day basis I'm very traditional with my manicures. However, when I couldn't decide which blue to wear, I thought it'd be a chance to go out of my comfort zone and do something more fun.

The polishes used in the photo below (from left to right, also thumb to pinky) are:

Essie "Borrowed and Blue"
Petties Color Fever "Creme Blue" (which I believe is an inexpensive Rite Aid brand)
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Blue Me Away!"
Butter London "Blagger"
China Glaze "ManHunt"

I'm actually very pleased with how this manicure turned out. It's very fun to look at on my hands.

Excuse the lighting in the photos below. I'm not sure why it got so yellow in the second photo. Luckily, this post is more for the overall ombre look than actual accurate swatches.

This manicure definitely made me realize how many blues I own. I could probably do an ombre manicure across all 10 fingers.

Well, I hope you enjoyed today's notd. The next one will probably be darker seeing as the temperature here in the Northern California is dropping slightly for the week.

  1. I absolutely love this type of ombre!!! I was wondering what polish look to wear during the wedding and since my dress shifts from blue to black I may try this look out.

    Love the blues :)!!!!!

    1. photos if you do!
I've found that the last spring/summer I've been slowly drifting away from blues even though they used to be my favorite so I'm trying to get more use out of them.
